Swiss Red Cross is recruiting

a Qualified Accountant/Secretary (National)

based in Luang Prabang

for a MNCH support project in 2 districts of Luang Prabang Province. The main objectives of the position are to ensure the efficient administration of the project office and to facilitate the work of the technical team members. The position combines 2 functions and  is responsible for  the daily operations associated with normal project implementation:

(1) Accounting function, tasks include:

  • Entering  project accounting into the computerized accounting system on a daily basis
  • Ensuring proper documentation for each accounting entry
  • Collecting bank statements
  • Monitoring expenditures against plan
  • Regularly following up and reconciling the working advances
  • Issuing monthly accounting reports for submission to SRC Headquarters
  • Preparing cheque payments
  • Supervising the project cashier

(2) Project secretarial function, tasks include:

  • Organizing and managing the project office
  • Maintaining the calendar of project plans, commitments, deadlines
  • Maintaining project staff member files
  • Organizing regular project staff meetings
  • Facilitating the organization of project meeting/workshops

Selection criteria:


  • Qualification in Accounting (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Conversant with common computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fair in English language (Spoken, and written)


  • Experience working in a similar role for at least 1 year including administrative/secretarial work
  • Conversant with accounting software (knowledge of BANANA system is a plus)
  • Experience in official procedures with the Lao government is an advantage
  • Women are encouraged to apply
